HDS Face Scan

HDS is High Definition Scanning/Surveying where survey accurate measurements are collected using reflectorless technology that measures the distance to an object.

Think of it like pin art.  When you remove the pins from your face you are left with a 3D duplication of your face.

HDS technology is very similar to this collection of points, but on a massive scale such as an entire city block, or bigger.  Instead of pins, we create 3D coordinates for every point.

HDS PhotoThe Scan Station records horizontal and vertical angles with great precision.  A green laser is then pulsed out from the instrument where it intercepts a given object and records the distance that object.

The laser uses a reflectorless technology that does not require anything but a reflective surface to return a signal.

In the world of color, black and orange will absorb the green laser and thus the reflective quality is poor.  Green and grey will produce the greatest reflection and return the strongest signal.  Water will deflect and defract the beam and not product a measureable result.  Glass will not generally present a problem and transmit through the glass to the objects beyond.

HDS HandEach site scan is based upon our standard traditional survey control traverse.  Great care is used to establish a series of control points that surround the project and any mathematical error is adjusted out, creating a precisional accuracy below 0.01 of a foot anywhere in the control loop (that's less than an 1/8 of an inch).

HDS CoinA true elevation, based upon a nearby vertical benchmark, can surveyed and the control loop adjusted.  This is especially helpful for areas that are affected by flooding.
